Dr. Michael Magno
Associate Head of School, incoming Head of School (effective June 2027)
Providence Day School

Michael Magno will become Head of School at Providence Day School effective June 2027. He has served as Associate Head of School at Providence Day School since 2024 and was Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs for five years prior. In this role, he has overseen key aspects of the school’s bold strategic plan, 2030 & Beyond, in addition to leading all aspects of the school’s TK through 12th-grade programs and curriculum.

Magno received his undergraduate degree from DePaul University, with a double major in Psychology and Biology, and a minor in Communication. He holds a Master's Degree in Education from Montana State-Bozeman, specializing in Performance Assessments.  Magno also received his Ed.D. in Learning, Leading, and Organizations from Vanderbilt University.

Joining the PD faculty in 2002 as a Middle School science teacher, Magno went on to serve as the Chair of the Middle School Honor Council, Dean of Middle School Students, Assistant Head of Middle School, and Head of the Middle School in 2016. He was promoted to Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs in 2019 and elevated to Associate Head of School in 2024. 

Over his tenure, Magno has supported all academic programs on campus, including at various times the Student Services team, Technology, Innovation, Global Studies, and the Registrar’s office. He also leads the Curriculum Council, a group of TK-12 academic leaders ensuring the implementation of the PD Passport, our portrait of a graduate. Michael served as project lead for the vision and implementation of the IDEAS@PD Program and IDEASXchange, collaborating directly with the design and construction teams. He also acted as co-lead for the redesign of the McMahon Fine Arts Center and Brinkley Dining Hall, and he led the development process for the newly constructed Auerbach Hall, which opened in Fall 2025. 

Magno received his Global Educator Certificate in 2016 and is a founding member of the Multicultural Advisory Board. He has been a frequent presenter at local, regional, and national education conferences, including NCAIS, SAIS, and NAIS, serving as an accreditation reader and chair for the Southern Association of Independent Schools.
