Academics
At Providence Day School, we believe all children are naturally curious, and that it is our primary mission to keep that curiosity alive and cultivate it into a passion for learning. We offer an intentional, globally-minded academic curriculum for transitional kindergarten (TK) through twelfth-grade, guided by excellent teachers who love engaging with students.
Learning Looks Different Here
At Providence Day School, students explore the world from an early age. TK students "fly" between classrooms, passports in hand, to "visit" China, Kenya, India, and Germany, discovering cultural similarities and differences. In second grade, students choose to study Chinese, French, or Spanish, embarking on an 11-year journey toward language proficiency.
As students progress, their learning grows even more dynamic. Fourth graders create video reports on iPads, sharing them with the school and the world, while sixth graders dive into real-world math applications, taking on roles from business owners to stock brokers in a simulated economy. By tenth-grade Chemistry, students experience a “flipped” classroom with collaborative, hands-on activities, while twelfth-grade Global Studies Diploma students engage in debates on global energy policy with peers from Denmark, Germany, and China.
This hands-on, immersive learning environment is made possible by PD's dedicated teachers, who treat each student as an individual and inspire them to become thoughtful, persistent problem-solvers. Their commitment to fostering student growth is what truly sets Providence Day School apart.
PD Passport
At Providence Day School, we intentionally create experiences that foster intercultural learning inside and outside the classroom. Knowing the world is increasingly interconnected and ever-changing, we purposefully develop opportunities for our students to become empathetic, informed, and empowered global citizens.
All students at Providence Day experience the TK–12 global education framework known as the "PD Passport," which infuses traditional classes with the content, skills, and character dispositions critical to becoming a global citizen. Our classrooms are places of discovery where learning about diverse cultures and shared experiences creates connections to our larger humanity.
