MS Boys Swim win GCMSAA Championship; MS Girls take third

On Wednesday, January 24, the Middle School Girls and Boys swim teams competed in the GCMSAA Conference Championships held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Uptown Charlotte. Chargers held First Baptist (SC) to 24 points in the first three quarters of their 51-47 win in the Carolina Invitational championship final in Charleston. Tournament MVP Kennedy Boyd, a UNC signee, had 11 points. All-tournament pick Andi Levitz had 10. Sophomore Nina Simone Clark had nine points and six rebounds, and freshman Emnet Naod had nine rebounds for Providence Day (12-4), which won its fifth straight game.

The Department of Athletics at Providence Day School inducted five members into their Hall of Fame to acknowledge their exceptional contributions to Charger sports. The induction ceremony took place at 1:30 pm in the Mosack Athletic Center located on the campus of Providence Day School. The inductees were Konecka Drakeford '93, Basketball; Barbara T. Fricke, Athletic Director; Carson Porter '97, Soccer; Tiffany Mitchell '12, Basketball; and Jerry Smith '83, Basketball and Baseball. Read more...

The Charlotte Observer - Providence Day's football team is off to its best start in five years, thanks partly to three players who anchor the offense and defense. The Chargers average 37 points, the best for the school in 17 years. As a result, the Chargers are off to their best start since the 2012 team reached the state final.

Kyle Wood Named Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week

Senior Kyle Wood, wide receiver and defensive corner for the Chargers, had 5 catches for 92 yards and 1 touchdown while also registering 1 tackle and 2 interceptions. Kyle was instrumental in the Chargers 55-21 victory over Forestview High School this past Friday night.
