We Exist to Inspire

Providence Day School exists to inspire in its students a passion for learning, a commitment to personal integrity, and a sense of social responsibility.

An independent, college preparatory school, grades Transitional Kindergarten through 12

Middle School

In grades 6 through 8, students experience developmentally appropriate opportunities to foster a sense of identity, confidence, leadership, and engagement.

Students in each grade take required courses in English, Science, Math, History, and Physical Education. As a school with a global emphasis, we have many students who take several years of a world language during middle school, and students may also take advantage of opportunities for world travel.

Students can round out their schedules with a variety of electives, such as Computer Apps, Global Issues, Creative Writing, STEM courses (Engineering, Robotics), Theater, Band, Chorus, and Strings; they may also elect to take a study hall for a semester or the year. Academic teachers engage students in particular subjects while also facilitating the development of study skills and strategies for academic success. Students are introduced to the Honor Code in middle school and quickly grasp the value and importance of integrity, especially when combined with greater responsibility and freedom.

Our desire is that our students leave the Middle School with a solid academic foundation that will prepare them for success in the Upper School. We also strive to help them cultivate an appreciation of the arts and athletics, as well as develop a strong sense of identity and purpose.
