The 2018 Fall sports season officially begins on Thursday, August 16, when the Charger Soccer team takes on the Greenies of Christ School here at Overcash Stadium. Game time is 4:00 PM. On Friday night at 7:00 PM, Football has its home opener against Trinity Christian School and Saturday afternoon, Charger Volleyball will be in the MAC at 2:00 against Wake Christian Academy. The National Strength and Conditioning Association and the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition recently announced Providence Day School as a 2018 Strength of America award recipient. This award recognizes Providence Day to have represented the gold standard in strength and conditioning programs.

Providence Day will host a major high school basketball event this year. The new "Crown Town Classic" will be held Dec. 21-22 and is put on by BallIsLifeEast, a company that specializes in highlight videos from high school basketball games. The NCISAA officially announced that Providence Day School is the 2017-2018 recipient of the Wells Fargo Cup. This marks the sixth time in the past seven years the Cup has been won by the Chargers. The Varsity Girls Track and Field team won their sixth consecutive NCISAA State Championship in convincing style. The Girls won individual state championships in five different events: 100 meter dash, 300 meter hurdles, 800 meter run, 4x100 meter relay, and the 4x800 meter relay. The Boys team scored a massive 237 points. This may just be the deepest and most talented team in school history. From a 10.79 100 meter dash for a freshmen, to a 140' discus throw, to a 44' triple jump, going 1,2,3 in 2 distance races, and much more..Read all about it!.

The Providence Day Girls came out of the starting blocks a bit slow on Friday down over 100 points but rallied strong on day two and took home the conference championship by 30 points.

Chargers have six different athletic teams competing in the quarterfinal round of the NCISAA state tournament. Games will begin on Friday afternoon, May 11, with Softball and Boys and Girls Lacrosse and continuing through Saturday with Tennis, Baseball, and Girls Soccer. The Girls Track and Field team dominated the championship meet scoring 142.5 points, 47.5 points over runner-up Country Day. Individual event champions were Leah Horwitz (800m), Ijeoma Eziri (100,300 Hurdles), Eme Stark (Long Jump), Emily Ritchie (Triple Jump) and Ashley Horwitz, Reagan Peterson, Leah Horwitz, Emily Ritchie (400m relay).

The Middle School Girls' Soccer team secured the GCMSAA Championship on Friday, April 27, by defeating Lake Norman Charter by the score 1-0. The Girls ended their season UNDEFEATED going 15-0.

On Monday, April 16, Providence Day School celebrated four student-athletes who will be continuing their education and playing at the college level. This signing marks a total of 18 Chargers from the class of 2018 who will be continuing their athletic pursuits in college.

Providence Day's senior girls' basketball star and UNC-Chapel Hill recruit Kennedy Boyd was name to the Charlotte Observer's All-Mecklenburg First Team. Kennedy was also recently named the CISAA Player of the Year and a McDonald's All-American nominee

On Tuesday, March 6, Providence Day alum and Tennessee basketball star Grant Williams '16 was named SEC Player of the Year after averaging 15.6 points and 5.8 rebounds this season. He scored at least 20 points in eight games, including a career high 37 points at Vanderbilt on January 9.

North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA) recently announced those student-athletes whose performance during this recent winter season earned them All-State honors. Providence Day School had five student-athletes who were recognized and received this extremely prestigious acknowledgement.

Now that the winter athletic season has concluded, the Charlotte Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA) announced their All-Conference selections. Providence Day's Devon Dotson and Kennedy Boyd were named CISAA all-conference boys and girls players of the year Monday. This is a repeat for Devon who was voted player of the year last year.

On Thursday morning, February 15, Providence Day's star basketball player Devon Dotson was presented his McDonald's All-American Game jersey, certificate and plaque from representatives of the company. Devon is one of only 24 players from across the country selected to play in the 41st McDonald's All-American Boys Game.

Providence Day baseball star and alum Zach Iverson '17 is looking forward to the upcoming baseball season with Michigan State University. Zach has been doing double duty for the Spartans playing 3rd base as well as some relief pitching.
