On Thursday morning, February 15, Providence Day's star basketball player Devon Dotson was presented his McDonald's All-American Game jersey, certificate and plaque from representatives of the company. Devon is one of only 24 players from across the country selected to play in the 41st McDonald's All-American Boys Game.

Providence Day baseball star and alum Zach Iverson '17 is looking forward to the upcoming baseball season with Michigan State University. Zach has been doing double duty for the Spartans playing 3rd base as well as some relief pitching.

On Wednesday, January 24, the Middle School Girls and Boys swim teams competed in the GCMSAA Conference Championships held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Uptown Charlotte. The Boys took home the Championship finishing their season undefeated while the Girls finished up in third. Click above for all the meet details.

Trey scored his 1500th career point when the Chargers defeated Curtis High School in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational. The senior guard went for 30 points during the game. Trey has been a major contributor to the Providence Day basketball program since his freshman year helping the Chargers to the NCISAA State Championship in 2016 as well as numerous tournament championships

The 6-foot-9 sophomore has started every game for the Mountaineers this season, averaging the third-most minutes on the team (26.1) with 7.3 points and 8.2 rebounds. OAK BROOK, Ill. (Jan. 16, 2018) – The McDonald's All American Games today unveiled the official rosters for the 41st annual Boys Game and 17th annual Girls Game. Devon is the only North Carolina player named to Naismith Trophy watchlist; Providence Day has three of the 17 North Carolina players nominated for the McDonald's All-American Game: Devon, Trey Wertz and Kennedy Boyd.

On Tuesday night the varsity boys basketball team started CISAA conference play with a convincing win over rival Charlotte Latin. The Chargers were led by Devon Dotson, Trey Wertz, and Isaac Suffren. The Chargers' Big 3 had big games in the 76-62 win over Charlotte Latin. 22 points, seven assists, five rebounds for Dotson; 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists for Wertz; and 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists for Suffren.

On Monday, January 8, Providence Day will have their first Concussion Awareness Day of the new year. During each team's practice session on this day, coaches will discuss various talking points with their team to ensure that players are educated in the many facets of concussion including causes, symptoms, and treatment. Chargers held First Baptist (SC) to 24 points in the first three quarters of their 51-47 win in the Carolina Invitational championship final in Charleston. Tournament MVP Kennedy Boyd, a UNC signee, had 11 points. All-tournament pick Andi Levitz had 10. Sophomore Nina Simone Clark had nine points and six rebounds, and freshman Emnet Naod had nine rebounds for Providence Day (12-4), which won its fifth straight game.

On Friday evening, January 5, Providence Day will be celebrating LOWER SCHOOL NIGHT and also having its annual Samaritan's Feet promotion during the varsity girls' and boys' basketball games. Both games will be against York Prep (SC). The varsity girls will begin play at 6:00 PM and the boys will tip-off at 7:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to donate a new pair of shoes. Collection boxes will be stationed at the entrance of the MAC...'tis the season of giving!

After helping lead the 2017 USA Basketball Women's 3x3 U18 World Cup Team to a 7-0 record and a gold medal at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup from June 28-July 2 in China, PD Alum Janelle Bailey '17 today was announced as the 2017 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year.

The Charlotte Observer - Providence Day boys basketball team, which played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, has ramped it up even more this season, including a 10-day trip to China. The Charlotte Observer - With improved chemistry, a bit more experience, and a few new players, the Chargers say they are ready to look like the Providence Day of two years ago – the team that won the the N.C. Independent Schools 3A state championship, played in the DICKS' National Tournament in New York and finished with a top 20 national ranking.

The Girls' Cross Country team took 3rd place at the NCISAA State Championships last weekend. The Chargers were the only team in the entire NCISAA 3A competition to place three girls on the All-State team. This is a feat that has only been achieved four other times since girls XC began in the early 1980s. The All-State performers were Justine Cronk (6th), Regan Cronk (9th) and Ananyaa Bharadwaj (11th).

The Boys Cross Country team won their 1st NCISAA state title since 2014. The team scored an extremely low point total of 40 points, placing 5 runners in the the top 14 and 7 in the top 26. This was the deepest field on time with 29 runners under 17:06. Noah Dolhare (3rd), Christian Landis (6th), Jason Krell (8th) and Adam Habas (9th) earned All-State honors.

The Providence Day Girls Varsity Golf team competed in the NCISAA State Championship Tournament over Monday and Tuesday, 10/23-24. Erica Boyd, Rhea Bhagia, Kaela McConnell, Clare Steigerwalt, and Katherine Chittenden led the way to a third place finish.
