Providence Day School is proud to host Columbian artist Nico Amortegui as he teaches teens how to produce large-scale paintings. Nico’s experiences as an immigrant of the 1990’s are evident in his works which often feature portraits of famous (or infamous) people who made a mark in some way on society. His creative expression takes form in murals, paintings, and sculptures, with large doses of “unapologetic color”. Painting from the heart, without previous sketches or drawings, allows Nico to create artwork that capitalizes on his in-the-moment energy. Watch him create an outdoor mural in Charlotte here, then see him and his campers in action this summer!
