Dear Providence Day community:
Welcome to our second-to-last community-wide update for this school year. As always, we hope this note finds your family well. The gradual "re-opening" of our campus to staff has gone well this week, and we are happy to report our preparations for July summer camps on campus are underway. Additionally, we have added our lineup of virtual camps in June to our website at www.providenceday.org/summer. A reminder that our campus remains accessible to the public by appointment, and masks and other social distancing measures are in place.
We know many of you are curious to know what our Freedom School will entail and what volunteer opportunities will be available. Following the announcement of the state entering Phase 2 restrictions this week, Freedom School Partners met yesterday to resolve some of these questions, but they tell us they are not yet ready to say what Providence Day's Freedom School program will look like. We are keeping in close touch with them, and we will send out a separate communication about that soon.
We were thrilled to welcome fifth graders to our campus yesterday for their drive-through, and we are excited to be welcoming every other grade level to their own drive-through experiences in the coming days next week. Your final community-wide email update will be sent on Monday June 1 so that we can share with you some of the images and memories from these events - culminating, of course, in what we are referring to as our "Convo-mencement" for the Class of 2020.
Following that communication, you can expect by the end of June to receive a detailed re-entry plan for the safe return of our students in August. We will of course continue sending updates around this throughout the back-to-school season.
We hope your families will be able to enjoy the long weekend together. Please stay safe and well until we can see you again.
Cheers,
Dr. Glyn Cowlishaw
