Dear Providence Day community:
First and foremost, I hope you and your families are in good health. As the end of the school year draws near, all three of our divisions are planning some special observances for their students. Please be sure to consult Thursday Notes for complete listings of events both on and off campus to commemorate your student's hard work this year.
Today we have also sent the seniors and their parents some details of what we are calling "Convo-mencement." On the evening of May 28 and during the day of May 29, they will be invited to campus for festive and memorable experiences to commemorate the end of senior year with a convocation and some socially-distanced photo opportunities. We remain hopeful we can bring them all together on campus for their rescheduled Commencement date of July 31.
Following our announcement last week about Summer Camps, we are working to update our website with the latest offerings of virtual camps in June, and socially-distanced camps on campus in July. Keep watching www.providenceday.org/summer for more details.
Additionally, we know many of you are curious to know our plans for Freedom School this summer. We are keeping in close touch with Freedom School Partners and we will be ready to share specifics next week.
And finally, I wanted to share with you that as the state restrictions continue to ease in the coming weeks, we are planning a "soft re-opening" of our campus with staff reporting to their offices on a gradual re-entry schedule beginning next week. We are implementing detailed protocols and social distancing requirements to ensure everyone's safety. We ask that any non-staff who wish to access campus in the coming weeks do so by appointment only, and to be prepared to wear a mask.
We are proud of how our faculty and staff have continued their work to ensure a successful conclusion of our school year, and our year-round staff will continue to work through the summer to ensure our campus is ready for a safe return in August.
As always, please stay safe and well.
Cheers,
Dr. Glyn Cowlishaw
