Dear Independent School Community,
Our schools are reaching out jointly to speak from a collective voice on the COVID-19 pandemic. We all care deeply about our students and their safety. And, we miss them and look forward to their return to our campuses. We also care about our greater Charlotte community and the wellbeing of the individuals within it. To that end, we are asking that everyone follow the local, state, and federal guidelines on social distancing and stay-at-home orders. We can collectively make a difference if we all choose to do so.
As our communities rise to this challenge, we want to acknowledge the selfless sacrifice of those on the front lines of this response. First, all of us hold in our hearts the first responders and medical professionals in the Charlotte area as they strive to keep us safe and well. Their efforts grow in complexity and challenge every day, and we offer them our deepest appreciation. Second, we honor our teachers and staff as they respond to new challenges from home, both professionally and personally. They do so with courage and grace, and we are grateful. Finally, we say thank you to all of our school families who, in the face of global uncertainty, have recommitted to our missions and a shared belief in the power of a transformative education.
While we may have spirited competitions against each other on athletic fields and gymnasiums, we all speak with one voice in this battle against COVID-19. Ultimately, the sooner we get past this pandemic, the sooner we can have your children back in our classrooms learning and growing. We encourage you to follow the guidelines and laws in place and help us to help each other.
Sincerely,
Chuck Baldecchi, Head of School, Charlotte Latin School Glyn Cowlishaw, Head of School, Providence Day School Mark Davis, Head of School, Covenant Day School
