One of the most prestigious track and field meets of the indoor season is the New Balance Invitational Indoor held at The Armory in New York City on March 8, 9, and 10. This will be the 21st indoor nationals and the 9th with the New Balance sponsorship. The meet typically hosts more than 3,500 of the country's best track and field student-athletes from 40+ states and Canadian provinces, all of them looking to run, hurdle, jump, throw and walk their way to titles and All-American honors in 48 boys' and girls' Championship events -- plus 40 more Emerging Elite and Freshman events.
Head Coach Carol Lawrence, along with five of Providence Day's very best, will be flying to New York City to participate in the meet. Joining Coach Lawrence will be senior Olivia Hee, freshman Falon Spearman, sophomore Eliza Cardwell, freshman Santana Spearman, and freshman Ijeoma Eziri. The girls will be participating in the following events:
Olivia Hee - Long Jump, 60 Meter Dash
Falon Spearman - 60 meter hurdles, Shuttle Hurdles Relay
Eliza Cardwell - Shuttle Hurdles Relay
Santana Spearman - Shuttle Hurdles Relay
Ijeoma Eziri - Shuttle Hurdles Relay
Falon will be competing on Friday morning, Olivia and the shuttle hurdles team will be competing on Saturday morning, and Olivia will be competing in the long jump on Sunday afternoon.
