Performing Arts

The Performing Arts faculty at Providence Day believe that a comprehensive exposure to music and theatre is essential to the complete educational experience for each student. TK-12th grade students are encouraged to find and pursue their passions through exploration of music and theatre. 

Performance opportunities are numerous throughout the year. In addition, membership in national and regional organizations such as the National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association, and North Carolina Theatre Conference, as well as repeated recognition in the annual Blumey Awards recognizing excellence in regional musical theatre, bring additional performance opportunities which are sometimes adjudicated by industry professionals.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts courses provide essential experiences for Providence Day students. Whether manipulating studio media, developing film in the darkroom, or using unconventional materials, our students explore multiple outlets for creative, meaningful expression.

Compassionate teachers at Providence Day help students develop the skills, discipline, and self-confidence that characterize successful artists. With curricular emphasis on fundamental processes, visual arts courses challenge students to be original, resourceful, and innovative. Ultimately, the arts provide PD students with the tools to communicate intellectually and enhance human life.

This Parents’ Association group provides volunteer support to the Performing and Visual Arts departments. Everyone is welcome to join - including parents, faculty, alumni, and grandparents! There is no membership fee. Click here to learn more.
