Providence Day School exists to inspire in its students a passion for learning, a commitment to personal integrity, and a sense of social responsibility

Tiffany Mitchell '12

There are few athletes in Providence Day history that have had the success that Tiffany Mitchell has had on the basketball court. She helped lead the Providence Day Women’s Basketball Team to three straight state championships while personally earning Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year and Miss Basketball North Carolina honors. Her hard work and accomplishments at Providence Day were just foreshadowing for the next step in her career.

After graduating from Providence Day, Tiffany was a top recruit and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She picked up right where she left off earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team during her first year. Tiffany followed up a good freshman year with an even more impressive sophomore year receiving almost every recognition possible including SEC Player of the Year and All-American honors while leading her team to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

Tiffany’s junior year has been one for the ages. In her best season yet, she is the first player in University of South Carolina history to earn back-to-back SEC Player of the Year awards and is a finalist for every national award available. What makes her junior season so impressive is how she has led her team to historic achievements. The team won their first SEC championship in school history and made it to their first Final Four appearance in the NCAA tournament. She’s been able to do all of this while earning All-Academic honors throughout her career as a Retail Management major.
