PD Students Emmi Pinch and Laura Plata Win GOA Catalyst Conference Awards

Providence Day School students Emmi Pinch ’23 and Laura Plata ’24 were selected from more than 400 presentations in the Catalyst Conference to receive GOA Citation Awards. Citations are awarded by Global Online Academy and member school faculty to those presentations that best represent the goals of the conference: 1) raising awareness, 2) promoting grassroots action, and 3) promoting institutional change.

Plata’s project, “How Can We Provide Sustainable Jobs for Great Falls and Increase Tourism in the Town?” was also selected from more than 400 projects to receive an Audience Choice Award. This award is given to those students whose projects garnered a noteworthy number of views and significant engagement from conference participants. Her project was completed as part of a GOA Architecture course.

About the Catalyst Conference: The Catalyst Conference is a global, online event for students in the GOA consortium to share projects designed to spark change in their communities. Each presentation is the culmination of a capstone project that asked students to transform learning from their courses into research-based solutions for real-world issues.
