Middle and Upper School Students Compete Virtually in NC State Science Olympiad

Congratulations to Providence Day School’s Middle and Upper School Science Olympiad teams for their successes in the North Carolina state competition on April 24, 2021. PD placed 23rd overall while medaling in three Middle School events and one Upper School event. Participating students demonstrated integrity, perseverance, and dedication during the virtual competition with 45 teams. 

Iris Cotoman ‘26 and Anish Vedantham ‘25 placed 3rd in the event Write It, Do It; Sophia Hood ‘26 and Alex Mao ‘25 placed 6th in the event Density Lab; Alex Mao ‘26 and John Oberer ‘26 placed 7th in the event Ornithology; and Laura Plata ‘24 and Sophie Mao ‘24 placed 9th in the state of North Carolina in the event Circuit Lab. 

During the regional satellite competitions across the state in February and March, PD's Middle School and Upper School Science Olympiad teams placed 2nd overall with numerous 1st-4th place prizes in individual events.
