Claire Jones is a young craftsperson.
So when the Providence Day third-grader challenged herself to enter the contest open to all students to design the 2024 Fall Fest logo, she already had a vision.
“I thought it was a cool idea because, hey, maybe I could win,” she says.
Claire had to be creative - she didn’t know how to make a logo on a computer - so she opted for construction paper.
“I knew Spirit had to be blue, and since it was an Around the World theme, I wanted to make the earth, too,” she says. “I didn’t know how to make Spirit’s body, so I decided just to do the head. To make it fall-themed, I put a scarecrow hat on Spirit and some wheat in his mouth. I added leaves, too.”
Claire won the design contest, and her Fall Fest logo features school colors, a very spirited mascot, and be on T-shirts and campus signage.
The Parents’ Association's annual family-friendly Fall Fest will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Brewster Field. The event includes live music and games.
Fall Fest will also include a Fun Zone with inflatables, athletic clinics organized by JV and varsity athletes, student musical performances, sustainability initiatives, a pumpkin patch, food, and a vendor and Providence Day student entrepreneurs marketplace.
The deadline to get a T-shirt and wristband combo pack is September 29. T-shirts will still be available the day of Fall Fest but in limited amounts. Wristbands will be available on the day of. Click here to purchase your wristband and this year’s Fall Fest Limited Edition T-Shirt by September 29.
“I’m super excited,” Claire says of her logo design, “and I can’t wait to see it on a shirt!”
Suzette Fernandez, Claire’s mom and a Lower School teaching assistant, says her daughter was excited to design a logo.
“Claire told me that there was a contest she heard about and wanted to enter,” Ms. Fernandez says. “She was excited to be a part of the competition.”
And now that her design will be featured all over Fall Fest?
“We are all so proud of her,” Ms. Fernandez says. “I especially love that she was creative and thought up a different way to make her design.”
