Mark Cuban Addresses PD Social Entrepreneurship Students

Upper School students in teacher James Edge’s Social Entrepreneurship class were surprised and energized by a video message to them from Mark Cuban of Shark Tank and the Dallas Mavericks. Edge had reached out to Cuban for advice to his students. Cuban champions companies who are socially responsible and urged PD students to learn about companies who make and sell the products they buy. He added that individuals in their age group can have a huge impact on their communities.

Edge says, “I hope this experience encourages our students to set and pursue ambitious goals, both in the classroom and on their own, as they think of ways to cultivate entrepreneurial concepts that provoke positive outcomes in their communities. [Cuban’s comments] align directly with the goals of our Social Entrepreneurship class and the mission of Providence Day School.”

Social Entrepreneurship is an experiential learning elective course designed to guide and propel students through the knowledge and processes necessary to launch businesses that create social value.
