Kindergarten Classes Collect Hundreds of Items for The Relatives

Throughout the month of January, the Providence Day School community came together to make a large impact as kindergarten classes collected items including gloves, hats, socks, and underwear for The Relatives, a local non-profit organization that supports families and youth in need of shelter and support. The Mitten Tree project is based on the book by Candace Christiansen about a girl leaving mittens on a tree for other children.

PD's kindergarten families were given a list of the "most needed items" and they generously delivered by collecting:

  • 359 pairs of underwear

  • 173 containers of body lotion/deodorant/body wash

  • 329 pairs of socks

  • 252 packaged snacks

  • 189 hair care products

  • Two infant car seats

After the collection ended, kindergarten students sorted and counted items to donate.
