International Club officers in the Providence Day School class of 2021 – Axel Rokahr, Luke Manna, and Kareena Gor – took part in a Round Square online meetup for students. This event helped maintain connections from around the world during remote learning for a group of 35 students from Peru, Colombia, Canada, and the U.S.
The call was hosted by The Athenian School, a fellow Round Square school in California. Students discussed COVID-19, specifically how each school has been affected and what each country is doing to combat the virus. “We started the video call by discussing what our respective communities have done in attempts to stay sane, connected, and positive in these trying times,” says Manna. “We talked about online school, stress levels, and how we were staying connected to friends online.”
“We started as a big group, then split into breakout rooms of about five people to really have a conversation. Afterward, we came back together as a group and discussed our conversations,” says Gor. “It was really interesting to hear how different everyone’s experiences are.” Students also discussed what new hobbies and interests they have developed since spending more time at home.
