Senior Kyle Wood, wide receiver and defensive corner for the Chargers, had 5 catches for 92 yards and 1 touchdown while also registering 1 tackle and 2 interceptions. Kyle was instrumental in the Chargers 55-21 victory over Forestview High School this past Friday night.

Science teacher Bonnie Wright was confronted with her first big challenge of the new school year when one of her eighth grader Dad's reached out to her to see if there was any way possible he could see his daughter play volleyball. The problem: he was stationed in South Korea for at least another year! But PD science teachers always find a solution...

On Tuesday, September 12, Russell Mansfield, Vice President, Branch Manager of RBC Wealth Management's Charlotte Office, awarded sophomore Jacolbe Cowan their Private School Player of the Week award for his performance against Carolina Pride. Jacolbe had 4 solo tackles,1 TFL and 2 QB sacks.

The Charlotte Observer's Langston Wertz acknowledged Chargers' cross country runners Regan Cronk and Noah Dolhare in his weekly Prep Insider column. Both took first place in the recent CISAA cross country meet. Jason Krell finished close behind in second place.

Varsity Boys Cross Country runner Noah Dolhare is profiled in the upcoming WNC Carnival Showcase meet coming up this weekend. Noah, along with three other NCISAA 3A top runners will square off for the first big 5K race of this season. Noah will lead a young Charger team which could be very strong.

The mission of the Providence Day athletic program is to develop the whole person through its pursuit of excellence in education and athletic competition. It provides student-athletes with the opportunity to learn the value of sportsmanship, commitment, character, respect, and integrity. This mission was once again accomplished this past school year as reflected in the various achievements by players and coaches.

In addition to Coach Hovis being named Boys Track Coach of the Year, South Charlotte Weekly also named Noah Dolhare, Adam Habas and Manny Riolo to their 2017 Boys Track Super Team. Adam Roupas was selected to the Second Team.

NC Runners, MileSplit - Providence Day returns as the 26th best team in North Carolina based off of NC Runners database, so their ranking the Chargers 11th might seem like a bold prediction. But they feel this Providence Day team has everything it needs to be one of the top programs once again this season.

Providence Day alum Janelle Bailey '17 represented the USA women's basketball team in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup championships held in Chengdu, China. Janelle finished as the leading scorer in both the championship game and the entire tournament. For her performance, Janelle was elected to the All-Tournament team. Click above for video highlights.

South Charlotte Sports Report - Providence Day School senior Zach Iverson '17 captured the All-South Player of the Year Award with his outstanding season for the Chargers. Zach was an RBI machine for Providence Day and also helped out on the pitching staff. Senior Max Lahn and Junior Justin Murray were named to the All South second team.

Varsity Girls Soccer lost a heart-breaker to Charlotte Latin in the NCISAA 3A finals, 0-1, while the Boys Tennis team lost to undefeated Charlotte Country Day School. Despite the losses, both teams had outstanding seasons, winning CISAA conference titles and providing fans with great play and excitement.

Varsity Girls Track and Field won their fifth straight 3A State Championship in an overwhelming manner outscoring their closest competitor by 40.5 points. Seniors Emerson Porter and Gracie Whelan each took home 4 first place medals while sophomore Olivia Hee won the 100 meters and long jump.

The Varsity Boys Track and Field team took home the CISAA championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year in a convincing manner scoring 205 points to CCDS's second place 111. Final rounds of the NCISAA state tournament are Friday and Saturday. Girls Soccer will face off against the Hawks of Charlotte Latin and Boys Tennis will match-up against Charlotte Country Day School. Charger senior baseball player Zach Iverson is having an outstanding year both at the plate and on the mound. At the conclusion of the regular baseball season, "Z" is either leading the NCISAA 3A division in key batting categories or at the very top. His performance on the mound is pretty good too! The JV Boys Tennis team concluded their season with a dominate win at the CISAA team singles tournament. The tournament was a 4 bracketed event pairing the top 8 singles players. The Chargers won the event winning 3 of the 4 brackets. Josh Dolgoff, Sanjeev Hassani and Deven Sawyer each won their championship match to help the Chargers win the tournament and complete their undefeated season.

On Monday, April 10, Providence Day School celebrated seven student-athletes signing national letters of intent and commitment letters to play at the college level. Seniors signed letters in front of family, coaches, faculty, and students. Click above to read who signed.

Providence Day will return three players who are receiving major-college interest, including two freshmen - defensive lineman Jacolbe Cowan and wide receiver Porter Rooks -- who are piling up college scholarship offers this spring. Rising senior Elijiah Brown is also collecting college offers.
