Graduating senior Zach Iverson has recently committed to continue his baseball career for the Spartans of Michigan State University, a member of the Division I BIG TEN Conference.

Providence Day alum Janelle Bailey '17 represented the USA women's basketball team in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup championships held in Chengdu, China. Janelle finished as the leading scorer in both the championship game and the entire tournament. For her performance, Janelle was elected to the All-Tournament team. Click above for video highlights.

South Charlotte Sports Report - Providence Day School senior Zach Iverson '17 captured the All-South Player of the Year Award with his outstanding season for the Chargers. Zach was an RBI machine for Providence Day and also helped out on the pitching staff. Senior Max Lahn and Junior Justin Murray were named to the All South second team.

Varsity Girls Soccer lost a heart-breaker to Charlotte Latin in the NCISAA 3A finals, 0-1, while the Boys Tennis team lost to undefeated Charlotte Country Day School. Despite the losses, both teams had outstanding seasons, winning CISAA conference titles and providing fans with great play and excitement.

Varsity Girls Track and Field won their fifth straight 3A State Championship in an overwhelming manner outscoring their closest competitor by 40.5 points. Seniors Emerson Porter and Gracie Whelan each took home 4 first place medals while sophomore Olivia Hee won the 100 meters and long jump.

Varsity Boys Track and Field won their fifth consecutive NCISAA 3A State Championship outscoring 17 other schools.Junior Noah Dolhare took gold in both the 1600 and 3200 meters run and freshman Adam Habas placed first in the 800 meters. Click above for complete team and individual scores.

The Varsity Boys Track and Field team took home the CISAA championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year in a convincing manner scoring 205 points to CCDS's second place 111. Junior Noah Dolhare and Manny Riolo each won two individual events and Noah added another medal in the 4x800 relay. Click above for complete meet details.

In winning their fifth consecutive CISAA Conference Championship, the varsity girls track and field team set numerous conference, school and personal records. Senior Emerson Porter won three individual events and participated in a winning relay while senior Gracie Whelan won two individual events and participated in two winning relays. Final rounds of the NCISAA state tournament are Friday and Saturday. Girls Soccer will face off against the Hawks of Charlotte Latin and Boys Tennis will match-up against Charlotte Country Day School. Charger senior baseball player Zach Iverson is having an outstanding year both at the plate and on the mound. At the conclusion of the regular baseball season, "Z" is either leading the NCISAA 3A division in key batting categories or at the very top. His performance on the mound is pretty good too! The JV Boys Tennis team concluded their season with a dominate win at the CISAA team singles tournament. The tournament was a 4 bracketed event pairing the top 8 singles players. The Chargers won the event winning 3 of the 4 brackets. Josh Dolgoff, Sanjeev Hassani and Deven Sawyer each won their championship match to help the Chargers win the tournament and complete their undefeated season.

On Monday, April 10, Providence Day School celebrated seven student-athletes signing national letters of intent and commitment letters to play at the college level. Seniors signed letters in front of family, coaches, faculty, and students. Click above to read who signed.

Providence Day will return three players who are receiving major-college interest, including two freshmen - defensive lineman Jacolbe Cowan and wide receiver Porter Rooks -- who are piling up college scholarship offers this spring. Rising senior Elijiah Brown is also collecting college offers.

Sophomore sprinter and long jumper Olivia Hee had one of her best performances at the recent Queen City Relays where she received Most Valuable Player honors. She won the long jump and finished third in the 100-meter dash. Also, watch her great comeback in the 100 prelims.

South Charlotte Weekly - Providence Day baseball coach Jim Cerbie, who is in his 30th season as the Chargers' skipper, returns a veteran ball club after winning the CISAA championship and advancing to the semifinal round of the N.C. Providence Day alum Grant Williams '16 recently concluded his record breaking freshman basketball season and was interviewed by Bradi Musil, Editor-in Chief, of the The Daily Beacon which is the campus newspaper serving the University of Tennessee's Knoxville campus.

The Chargers finished 26-4 and won their eighth straight N.C. Independent Schools 3A championship. Providence Day was the only area girls' team to win a state championship this season. The Chargers were 22-1 against N.C. teams this season, losing in February at Carolina Day, a seven-time NCISAA 2A state champion. Afterward, Providence Day won five straight games and captured the state championship.
