 2016 – 2017 ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

AT A GLANCE

• In 2016 - 2017, Providence Day School fielded 27 varsity teams with an overall total of 66 teams competing in grades 7 through 12

• The 66 teams translated to 1,174 roster spots

• The teams won 7 CISAA conference championships, 3 NCISAA state championships, and 3 NCISAA runner-up trophies

• Collectively, the varsity teams achieved an average cumulative GPA of 3.78

• All-Conference honors were awarded to 115 Charger student-athletes

• All-State honors were awarded to 60 Charger student-athletes

• All-American honors, including a McDonald’s All-American, were awarded to 2 Charger student-athletes (girls basketball and boys lacrosse)

• 19 student-athletes won individual NCISAA state championships

• 3 student-athletes were named CISAA “Player of the Year”

• Varsity Boys Basketball won the Hoodies House of Hope Championship for the second consecutive year

• Varsity Girls Basketball were The Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 Champions and won their 8th consecutive NCISAA state championship

• Varsity Boys Cross Country won their 17th consecutive CISAA championship

• Varsity Boys and Girls Track and Field won their 5th consecutive NCISAA championships

• 22 members of the class of 2017 will be participating in intercollegiate sports

• 4 Charger coaches were acknowledged as “Coach of the Year”

• Providence Day finished runner-up in the Wells Fargo Cup competition after winning the past five years
